How the crop is exported

The visual editor records a pixel rectangle, then the browser decodes the source and exports only that region with the chosen encoding settings.

Cropping limits

  • Cropping permanently removes pixels outside the selected rectangle from the output.
  • Only one image is edited at a time.
  • Animated inputs are not exported as animations.

When cropping is the right edit

  • Reframe a profile or product image.
  • Remove unwanted edges from a screenshot.
  • Prepare a source before resizing.
