How PDF pages become images

A lazily loaded PDF renderer draws each selected page to a bitmap, then FileFruit encodes that bitmap as JPEG.

Rasterization tradeoffs

  • Text becomes pixels and is no longer selectable in the JPG.
  • Password-protected PDFs are not supported.
  • Rendering many high-resolution pages can use significant memory.

When JPG pages are useful

  • Create page previews.
  • Share one PDF page as an image.
  • Use document pages in an image workflow.

Privacy

This tool processes supported files in your browser. File contents are not uploaded by this dedicated workflow.
