How PDF pages become images
A lazily loaded PDF renderer draws each selected page to a bitmap, then FileFruit encodes that bitmap as JPEG.
Rasterization tradeoffs
- Text becomes pixels and is no longer selectable in the JPG.
- Password-protected PDFs are not supported.
- Rendering many high-resolution pages can use significant memory.
When JPG pages are useful
- Create page previews.
- Share one PDF page as an image.
- Use document pages in an image workflow.
