How it works

FileFruit decodes the WebP image and writes a new JPEG using the selected quality. This is a re-encode rather than a lossless container change.

Important limitations

  • JPG cannot preserve transparency.
  • Animated WebP input is handled as a still frame.
  • Re-encoding can change fine detail and file size.

Useful for

  • Open WebP downloads in older software.
  • Meet a JPG-only upload rule.
  • Make JPEG copies of web assets.

Privacy

This tool processes supported files in your browser. File contents are not uploaded by this dedicated workflow.

FAQ

Are animated WebP files preserved?

No. The current image pipeline processes a still frame and does not export animation.
